Born : 1955, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1978 & received his Master from Tsukuba University, Japan 1986.1980-81 research course from academy of the fine arts in Warsaw, Poland and 1982 Japanese Language course from Osaka University of Foreign Language, Japan. In 1995 he was the “Visiting Teacher (Art & Design Department) at North Carolina State University” and also honored as “visiting artist in Residence, U.S.A”.
He had 18 solo exhibitions in Japan at Gallery Mitsukoshi Art Gallery (2005 and 2001), Mitsukoshi Art Gallery (1999), Hirose (2001,1999, 1997, 1996, 1995, 1993 and 1992), Gallery Koji (1989 and 1988), Osaka Form Gallery (1986), Gallery Keifu Gabo (1985), Takita Art Gallery (1984), Tachi Art Gallery (1983) and Tsukuba University Art Gallery (1983). Besides he held solo exhibition at J.I Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan in 2006. Gallery Chitrak, Dhaka in 2008. World Trade Centre, Mumbai, India in 2008. Eye for Art Gallery, New York in 2015. Edge Gallery, Dhaka in 2016. His selected solo exhibition also held in Galleri Kaya, Dhaka in 2018 and 2020.
He Participated in numerous group exhibition at home and abroad.
He received Gold Medal award of the 11th National Art Exhibition at Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka in 1994 and also received best prize at the 14th National Art exhibition at Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka in 2000. He received Honourable Mention at 10th Asian Art Biennial, Bangladesh in 2001. He was honored with the highest civilian award “Ekushe Padak” for his contribution in Art by the Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh in 2019.
Present position: Working and residing in Dhaka as a freelance painter.
